Biography

Both my Mom and Dad were graduates from the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT., so I found myself taking piano lessons at 5 years old (1960). Unfortunately, I didn't take to it very well, but started clarinet lessons at 8. I continued under my Mom's loving command of, "DO IT AGAIN!!!" Well needless to say practicing allowed me to enjoy making music at an early age. I began transcribing Pete Fountain solos @10, when I also started the alto sax, flute a year later. My first New Year's Eve gig was in '67 @ 12, then @ 15 travelling with Frank Wojnarowski's Polka Band! Well, many lessons, and wedding gigs later, I was blessed with a full ride at the University of Miami School of Music. Having picked up the rest of the doubles by then, I was asked by Mark Colby to submit an audition for the Bari Sax/Fl/Picc chair on Maynard's band. After 2 1/2 years of the road and 3 albums with Maynard, I came home, finished school and married the Love of my Life, Roxi! Even though I took the "scenic route" with finishing school, I received a Masters Degree in Jazz Pedagogy @ the "U"!!! Now... with 30 years of teaching both middle and high school in South Florida, 33 years of marriage, 3 kids, a grandson, (and another grand baby on the way), I have my very first album! I so hope you can sit back and enjoy the Heart, Soul, Passion, Spirit, Prayers and Tears that went into this production,  "In The Company of Brothers". May God continue to bless every single one of you!!!
