Universal Audio OX Stomp is a dynamic speaker, cabinet, microphone and room emulator in a stompbox, carrying over 100 curated RIGs plus genuine UA 1176 compression, plate reverb, EQ and stereo delay in dual, crossover and ping-pong modes. It models speaker breakup, drive and cone cry rather than applying a static impulse response, with silent switching, buffered bypass and analog dry through.
Speaker modeling that reacts, not an impulse response that sits still.
An impulse response is a snapshot. It captures how a cabinet responded to one signal at one level, and it plays back the same way regardless of how hard it is driven. A real speaker does not behave like that: it compresses, it breaks up, and the cone moves in ways that change with level.
OX Stomp models that behavior rather than replaying a capture. Speaker breakup, drive and cone cry all respond to what is being played, which is why a chord hit hard sounds different from the same chord played softly beyond simply being louder.
Over 100 curated RIGs are on board, each a complete speaker, cabinet, microphone and room setup, and they are designed to sit after any amp emulator or in front of a desk. The effects section carries genuine UA 1176 compression, plate reverb, EQ and stereo delay with dual, crossover and ping-pong modes.
The UAFX Control app handles what the four knobs cannot. Footswitch behavior, preset recall and archiving, additional downloadable speaker cabinets and microphones, and artist presets all live there. Current pedals support MIDI over USB along with Bluetooth and hardwired connections.

How Is This Different From an Impulse Response?
An impulse response is a static capture that plays back identically regardless of input level. OX Stomp models the speaker's actual behavior, so breakup, drive and cone cry change with how hard the pedal is driven. That is the difference between a cabinet that reacts to playing and one that does not.

What Effects Are Built In?
Genuine UA 1176 compression, plate reverb, EQ and a stereo delay offering dual, crossover and ping-pong modes. These are UA's own algorithms rather than generic pedal effects.
What Is Analog Dry Through?
The dry signal passes through the pedal in analog rather than being converted, processed and converted back. That preserves the untouched signal for anyone blending a direct guitar sound alongside the modeled one.

Why Universal Audio?
Universal Audio was founded in 1958 by M.T. "Bill" Putnam, the engineer who built the first recording console with integrated equalization and effects sends, and who designed the 1176 and the 610. The company was revived in 1999 by his sons and now does two things: it still hand-builds analog hardware in California, and it licenses and models the classics from Neve, API, Manley, SSL, Lexicon, Studer, Ampex and others rather than emulating them without authorization.

Do I still need a real cabinet?
No. OX Stomp provides the speaker, cabinet, microphone and room, so it feeds a desk, an interface or in-ears directly.
How is it different from the OX Amp Top Box?
The OX is a reactive load box that takes a tube amp's speaker output. OX Stomp is the pedal version of the emulation without the load box, for use after amp emulators or with line-level sources.
Does it need a special power supply?
UAFX pedals draw more current than a typical analog pedal. UA sells the PSU-GP1-WW supply for the UAFX line and we stock it.
