Chauvet DJ has spent two decades as the default answer in mobile DJ and small venue lighting, and the reasoning behind the range is consistent throughout. A working rig has to go up quickly, run itself without someone watching a console, and survive being loaded in and out of a van several nights a week. That set of constraints, rather than a chase after specification, is what shapes the products. The company is based in Sunrise, Florida.
The catalogue covers a complete rig rather than a category of it. SlimPAR and Freedom wash lights handle colour and uplighting, including battery models that need no cable at all. Intimidator moving heads and the Swarm, Kinta and Scorpion effect fixtures add movement. The 4BAR and GigBAR systems put a whole rig on one stand with one power lead. Hurricane and Geyser machines cover fog and haze, and the Obey and ILS controllers run it. The ILS system is the piece that ties it together, linking fixtures so an entire rig follows a master with no DMX desk and no programming.
