Allen & Heath ZED-10 is a 10-channel analog mixer with a built-in 2-in 2-out USB audio interface. It carries 4 mic/line inputs on XLR and TRS jack sockets, 2 stereo inputs on TRS plus one on RCA, 2 Hi-Z instrument inputs, 3-band EQ with a sweepable mid, and XLR main outputs with insert points.

ZED Mini puts a working live mixer, a USB recording interface and Allen & Heath preamps in a frame small enough to carry one-handed. Every model in the range takes two Hi-Z instrument inputs, so a guitar or bass plugs straight in with no DI box, and every one carries a 2-in 2-out USB interface for recording the show or playing tracks back into it.
The preamp is where the ZED range earns its reputation. Allen & Heath's DuoPre design splits the gain into two stages, which keeps noise down and headroom high across the whole range of the control rather than only at the top of it. It is the same R&D team that builds the preamps on the company's flagship touring consoles.
MusiQ EQ was designed specifically for the ZED mixers. Rather than borrowing a generic curve, the analogue engineers set the target frequencies and the slope of each band around what actually needs correcting on instruments and voices, which is why it tends to sound right with less movement of the controls.

What Can I Plug Into a ZED-10?
Four mic or line sources on combination XLR and TRS jacks, two stereo sources on TRS jacks and a third on RCA, and two high impedance instruments straight in. That is a full small-band input list without any additional hardware.
Who Is the ZED-10 For?
Small bands, houses of worship running a simple system, schools, and venues that need a reliable analog desk with the option to record what goes through it. It also works well as a submixer feeding a larger console.
What Does the USB Interface Do?
Two in and two out. It records a stereo mix from the desk straight to a computer, and plays a stereo source back from the computer into the mixer, which covers both recording a rehearsal and running backing tracks.
What Are the Insert Points For?
The XLR main outputs carry insert points, which let a compressor or an EQ sit in the main output path rather than on a channel. On a live system that is where system processing usually belongs.

Can I plug a guitar in directly?
Yes, two Hi-Z instrument inputs accept guitar or bass without a DI box.
