ZED Mid is the range Allen & Heath aims at bands, houses of worship and venues that have outgrown a compact desk. Every model carries channel inserts on the mono inputs, XLR main outputs with insert points, a 2-in 2-out USB interface, 3-band EQ with a sweepable mid, and 100 mm faders rather than the short-throw faders found further down the range.
The preamp is where the ZED range earns its reputation. Allen & Heath's DuoPre design splits the gain into two stages, which keeps noise down and headroom high across the whole range of the control rather than only at the top of it. It is the same R&D team that builds the preamps on the company's flagship touring consoles.
MusiQ EQ was designed specifically for the ZED mixers. Rather than borrowing a generic curve, the analogue engineers set the target frequencies and the slope of each band around what actually needs correcting on instruments and voices, which is why it tends to sound right with less movement of the controls.

How Many Sources Can It Handle?
Sixteen mono mic or line channels, each with an insert point, plus four stereo channels. That is a full band with a miked kit, a vocal group and several playback sources without running out of inputs.
Who Is the ZED-24 For?
Larger bands and worship teams running their own monitors, theaters, schools and venues that need sixteen preamps and four independent sends but do not need sub groups.
How Is It Different From the ZED-22FX?
Both carry 16 mic/line channels with inserts. The ZED-24 adds a fourth stereo channel and a fourth aux and has no effects engine. The ZED-22FX has 3 stereo, 3 auxes plus an FX bus, and onboard effects.
Does It Have Onboard Effects?
No. The ZED-24 uses that space for the fourth aux and the fourth stereo channel. For onboard effects at the same input count, the ZED-22FX is the alternative.

Why Allen & Heath?
Allen & Heath has built mixing consoles in Cornwall, England since 1969, starting with desks for Pink Floyd, Genesis and The Who.
