Universal Audio Apollo e1x is a single-channel Unison microphone and line preamp with Dante networked audio, built to expand an Apollo x16D. Up to 16 units run per Apollo x16D depending on DSP resources, gain and phantom power are controlled over the network from UAD Console, and it mounts on a threaded 5/8 in. microphone stand.

The point of the e1x is distance. Rather than running a long analog microphone cable back to the rack, the preamp sits at the source and the signal travels the rest of the way as Dante over the network. Gain, phantom power, polarity and low cut are all set remotely from UAD Console, so nobody has to walk out to the stand.
It is a Unison preamp, which means the UAD plug-in has bidirectional control over the analog front end. Emulations of API, Neve, Manley and SSL preamps change the impedance and gain staging of the hardware rather than only processing the converted signal.
It works on any Dante audio network, not only with an Apollo. Routing is handled either through Dante Controller directly or inside UAD Console when paired with an Apollo x16D. Sample rates run 44.1 to 96 kHz, with AES67 support at 48 kHz, and Dante Device Lock is available. A coupling bracket is included for linking multiple units together.

Why Put a Preamp on a Dante Network?
Because the analog cable run stops at the microphone. The preamp amplifies and converts at the source and the signal travels the rest of the way digitally, which removes the noise and loss that come with a long analog run. In an install or a large room that is the difference between a usable signal and a compromised one.
Who Is Apollo e1x For?
Installations, houses of worship, broadcast rooms and studios running an Apollo x16D that need microphone inputs distributed around a building rather than concentrated in one rack. It also works on any Dante network independently of an Apollo.
How Many Can I Run?
Up to 16 Apollo e1x units per Apollo x16D, subject to available DSP resources. A coupling bracket is included so multiple units link together securely when they sit side by side.
Do I Need an Apollo to Use It?
No. It works with any Dante audio network, with routing handled in Dante Controller. Pairing it with an Apollo x16D adds routing and remote control inside UAD Console and enables Unison.

Why Universal Audio?
