The AEB4 is the rarest thing in the Applause line: a true acoustic-electric bass on the roundback platform. The Applause E-Acoustic Bass AEB4-7S, Honeyburst Satin is that guitar. This one wears the Honeyburst Satin finish.
A Bass on the Bowl
Acoustic basses ask a lot of a wooden body: long-scale string tension, deep frequencies that want a rigid structure, and stage volumes that turn big hollow boxes into feedback machines. The AEB4's mid-depth cutaway Lyrachord bowl answers all three. The one-piece composite shell holds the 864mm (34-inch) scale, full electric-bass length, without the structural drama, and its focused reflection keeps the low end defined. The selected spruce top with scalloped, quartersawn X-bracing gives the instrument a genuine acoustic voice for the couch and the campfire.
Sound and Electronics
Unplugged, it is a practice and writing instrument with real acoustic presence. Plugged in through the CE304T preamp with three-band EQ and tuner, it becomes a stage bass with an upright-adjacent warmth that sits beautifully under acoustic acts, and the bowl's feedback resistance lets it work at volumes that make traditional acoustic basses howl. A matching Ovation case is available.
Playability
Standard 34-inch scale, a 42.8mm nut, nato neck with ovangkol fingerboard and bridge, and a cutaway for the upper register. Electric bass players pick it up and feel at home immediately, which is the point.
