The Applause AB2412-5S is a 12-string roundback acoustic-electric guitar with a mid-depth Lyrachord bowl, a cutaway and a center soundhole, in black satin. It has a spruce top with scalloped X-bracing, a nato neck, ovangkol fingerboard and bridge, a 642 mm scale, 47.6 mm nut and an Applause preamp with 3-band EQ and built-in tuner.
A 12-string that stays in tune and plugs in.
The roundback is the design Ovation is known for: a one-piece Lyrachord composite bowl in place of flat wooden back and sides. The bowl resists humidity and temperature changes far better than wood, holds up to the road, and projects sound forward, which also helps control feedback on stage.
A 12-string doubles every course for the wide, chiming sound of folk and rock rhythm parts. Twelve strings put a lot of tension on a guitar, and the stable Lyrachord bowl helps it hold its tuning through changing conditions. The wide 47.6 mm nut gives each pair of strings room.
The preamp with 3-band EQ and tuner, ivory binding with multi-ply purfling, an inlaid rosette and diecast chrome tuners complete it.
