The AE44 wears the multi-soundhole design that made Ovation instantly recognizable from the back row of any arena. The Applause E-Acoustic Guitar AE44-4S, Natural Satin is that guitar. This one wears the Natural Satin finish.
The Multi-Soundhole Top
Instead of one round hole in the middle of the soundboard, the AE44 places a cluster of soundholes on the bass-side upper bout. Moving the openings off the center of the top leaves more unbroken soundboard where the strings drive it hardest, and it is the visual signature of Ovation's upper lines brought down to Applause. Underneath, a selected spruce top with scalloped, quartersawn X-bracing sits on a mid-depth cutaway Lyrachord bowl, the one-piece composite shell that resists weather and wear no wooden body can match.
Sound and Electronics
The mid-depth bowl gives the AE44 a full, balanced acoustic voice with the focused projection the roundback is known for, and the repositioned soundholes aim a surprising amount of that sound up at the player. The CE304T preamp with three-band EQ and built-in tuner handles the stage: shape the tone at the guitar, tune between songs without a pedal, plug into any PA or interface.
Playability
A 642mm scale and 42.8mm nut on a nato neck, ovangkol fingerboard and bridge, and diecast Ovation machine heads in black chrome. The cutaway and the bowl's contour make the upper frets and the third set of the night equally comfortable.
