The Applause AE44-5S is a multi-soundhole roundback acoustic-electric guitar with a mid-depth Lyrachord bowl and a cutaway, in black satin. Instead of one center soundhole it has a cluster of soundholes on the upper bass side, over a spruce top with scalloped X-bracing, with a nato neck, 642 mm scale, 42.8 mm nut and an Applause preamp with 3-band EQ and built-in tuner.
The multi-soundhole look Ovation made famous.
The roundback is the design Ovation is known for: a one-piece Lyrachord composite bowl in place of flat wooden back and sides. The bowl resists humidity and temperature changes far better than wood, holds up to the road, and projects sound forward, which also helps control feedback on stage.
The multi-soundhole top moves the openings off the center of the soundboard to the upper bass side, the signature of Ovation's upper lines. That leaves more unbroken top where the strings drive it hardest, and points more sound up toward the player.
The preamp with 3-band EQ and tuner, ivory binding with multi-ply purfling, diecast black chrome tuners and a black satin silk matte finish complete it.

Who Is the AE44-5S For?
Players who want the iconic Ovation multi-soundhole look and sound at an Applause level, and gigging players who need a stable, feedback-resistant plug-in acoustic.
What Does the Multi-Soundhole Do?
It moves the soundholes off the center of the top, leaving more of the top free to vibrate and directing more sound toward the player.
