The Applause AE48-1I is a super shallow multi-soundhole roundback acoustic-electric guitar with a cutaway, in honeyburst satin. It has a spruce top with X-bracing, a super shallow Lyrachord bowl, a nato neck, ovangkol fingerboard and bridge, a 643 mm scale, 43 mm nut, and an Applause Slimline pickup with a preamp and built-in tuner.

The roundback is the design Ovation is known for: a one-piece Lyrachord composite bowl in place of flat wooden back and sides. The bowl resists humidity and temperature changes far better than wood, holds up to the road, and projects sound forward, which also helps control feedback on stage.
The AE48 combines the two most recognizable Ovation features in the Applause line: the multi-soundhole top and the super shallow bowl. The thin body sits close like an electric and resists feedback on loud stages, while the soundholes on the upper bass side send more sound toward the player.
An Applause Slimline pickup with preamp and tuner, ivory binding with multi-ply purfling and diecast Ovation tuners complete the honeyburst satin body.

Super shallow is thinner, more comfortable and better at resisting feedback. The mid-depth AE44 has more acoustic volume unplugged.
