The Applause Jump AES12-69-5S Dark Matter 12-String is a solid spruce top 12-string acoustic-electric guitar with a matte black top, ovangkol back and sides, a maple neck and an Applause AP3TP preamp with built-in tuner. It has a 628 mm scale, 45 mm nut, pinless bridge, black Bonoid nut and saddle, and is strung with Adamas Nuova Coated 1616NU.

A 12-string doubles every course, with octave strings on the lower four, for the wide, chiming sound heard on countless folk and rock records. The Dark Matter 12 puts that sound on a solid spruce top over ovangkol, finished in matte black with a rosewood-stained body.
The shorter 628 mm scale lowers string tension, which makes a 12-string noticeably easier to fret, and the AP3TP preamp with tuner plugs straight into an amp, PA or interface.
It has a pinless bridge, maple binding and a black Bonoid nut and saddle. It comes strung with Adamas Nuova Coated 1616NU, .010 to .047.

Who Is the Dark Matter 12-String For?

Why the Shorter Scale?
At 628 mm the strings run at lower tension than on a 648 mm guitar, which makes barre chords and long sets on a 12-string easier on the hands.
