Overview

The Jump Slope Shoulder Dreadnought is the guitar the roundback company built when it decided to prove a point in wood. The Applause Jump Dreadnought Slope Shoulders, Peach is that guitar. This one wears the Peach finish.

Discontinued model, available while supplies last. Once remaining stock sells through, this model is gone for good.

Solid Wood, Serious Build

The Jump starts where most guitars at this level do not: a solid European spruce top, not laminate. Solid tops move more freely, sound better on day one, and genuinely improve as the wood opens up over years of playing. The back and sides are ovangkol, an African tonewood in the rosewood family, and the European maple neck joins the body with a dovetail joint, the traditional glued joint found on heritage-level instruments, not the bolted joints common at this price point.

The details keep going: a pinless bridge design that makes string changes faster and puts no ball-end wear on the bridge plate, maple binding, a Bonoid nut and compensated bridge inlay for accurate intonation up the neck, and Jump Design impact protection guarding the top's edge. The open-pore matte lacquer keeps the finish thin so the wood breathes.

Sound

The slope-shoulder dreadnought shape softens the boom of a square-shoulder dread into something rounder and more balanced, favored by fingerstyle and Americana players for exactly that reason. Solid spruce over ovangkol delivers clarity up top with warm, complex mids, and from the factory it ships strung with Adamas 1818NU phosphor bronze strings, Ovation's own string house, in a 12-53 set.

Playability

A 648mm scale with a 43mm nut and 20 nickel silver frets, on a European maple neck with an ovangkol fingerboard. Matte chrome machine heads and dot inlays keep it clean. It plays like a modern guitar and wears its color like nothing else in the room.
