The UltraStudio Mini Replay 12G is a compact Thunderbolt 4 capture and playback device that records and plays 12G-SDI video at the same time over a single cable, in SD, HD and Ultra HD up to 2160p60. It has one 12G-SDI input, a dedicated fill and key output pair, and a separate 12G-SDI monitoring output that stays live while the next clip is being set up. It supports the live action replay features in DaVinci Resolve.
It exists so one laptop can run replay, live graphics or real time AI processing on a live SDI feed.
This is the bi-directional model in the UltraStudio Mini 12G family, and the reason to choose it over the Monitor or Recorder is that capture and playback run together. Video comes in on 12G-SDI, the computer does the work, and the result goes straight back out without a second box in the chain.
The output side is built for live production. The fill and key pair connects to a switcher downstream keyer and can be muted so nothing keys on air until the replay or graphic is ready, while the third SDI output is dedicated to monitoring and stays active the whole time. The SDI input suits monitoring a switcher multiview, or rendering graphics and AI processing over a live input.

Blackmagic Design builds the capture, playback, switching and color hardware that runs a large share of broadcast and post production worldwide, and it keeps the driver and software stack current across Mac, Windows and Linux rather than tying the hardware to one platform.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can it capture and play back at the same time?
Yes. That is the point of this model. It runs capture and playback together over one Thunderbolt 4 connection, which the Mini Monitor 12G and Mini Recorder 12G cannot do.
Does it have an HDMI connection?
No. The Mini Replay 12G is SDI only. If you need HDMI, the Mini Monitor 12G has an HDMI output and the Mini Recorder 12G has an HDMI input.
How does the replay workflow work?
It supports the live action replay features in DaVinci Resolve. The fill and key outputs feed a switcher downstream keyer and can be muted so nothing goes to air until the replay is cued, while the separate monitoring output stays live so you can set up the next one.
Does it need an external power supply?
No. It is powered over the Thunderbolt cable and needs a computer with a Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port. It also works with Thunderbolt 5 PCs.
Is it authentic and under warranty?
Yes. Victory Musical Instruments is an authorized Blackmagic Design dealer, so it ships new in original packaging with the full Blackmagic Design manufacturer warranty.
