Overview
The Boss CE-1 (1976) was the first commercial chorus pedal — built using bucket-brigade integrated circuits that created the lush, slightly imperfect modulation that came to define '70s and '80s recorded guitar. Used by everyone from The Cure and The Police to Pat Metheny and Andy Summers, the CE-1 is also famous for its built-in preamp circuit, which added analog warmth even with the chorus disabled. Brigade captures both — the bucket-brigade chorus/vibrato, and the iconic preamp boost.
