Overview

Cambridge Audio Spira is a belt drive turntable with a built-in phono stage, a Bluetooth transmitter and a pre-fitted, factory aligned Audio-Technica AT3600L moving magnet cartridge. It plays 33⅓ and 45 RPM records, connects to an amplifier, active speakers, a Bluetooth speaker or wireless headphones, and comes in Black, White, Blue, Green and Orange to match Cambridge Audio's L/R speakers. It is built for anyone starting or growing a vinyl collection who wants to play records the day it arrives.

A complete turntable that plays out of the box and leaves room to upgrade.

Spira arrives with the cartridge already fitted and aligned, which takes the fiddliest part of turntable setup off your hands. The built-in phono stage lets it connect straight to an amplifier line input or a pair of active speakers with nothing extra to buy. When you want more, switch the output to phono level and add an external phono stage such as the Cambridge Audio Alva Solo or Alva Duo.

A lacquered MDF plinth houses the DC motor, which belt-drives a sub-platter under a 1.8 kg engineered steel platter for steadier speed and lower vibration. A felt mat, rubber isolating feet and a ground connection keep hum and rumble out of the signal. One dial switches electronically between 33⅓ and 45 RPM, so there is no belt to move between an LP and a seven inch single.

The straight aluminium tonearm has adjustable tracking force, adjustable anti-skate and a removable headshell. The stock conical stylus can be upgraded to the Audio-Technica ATN3600LE elliptical stylus for better tracking, and the headshell makes a full cartridge change straightforward later on.

Do I Need a Phono Preamp With Spira?

No. Spira has a phono stage built in. Set the output level switch to Line and connect it to any line input on an amplifier or to active speakers. If your amplifier has a phono input, or you add an external phono stage, set the switch to Phono instead. Change the switch only with the turntable powered off.

Can Spira Play Through Bluetooth Speakers or Headphones?

Yes. Spira has a Bluetooth transmitter that sends the record to a Bluetooth speaker, wireless headphones or any system with Bluetooth reception. It is a transmitter only, so it cannot receive or play music streamed from a phone.

Can I Connect Spira Directly to Passive Speakers?

No. Spira has no power amplifier. Connect it to an amplifier or receiver that drives passive speakers, or to a pair of active speakers such as Cambridge Audio's L/R range.

Can I Upgrade the Cartridge on Spira?

Yes. The first step is the Audio-Technica ATN3600LE elliptical replacement stylus, which fits the included cartridge. The removable headshell also makes it easy to mount a different cartridge entirely as your system grows.

Why Cambridge Audio?

Spira is matched in color to the L/R active speakers and sits below the Alva turntables in the range, sharing the same idea of a deck that is ready to play and easy to grow with.
