DigiTech FreqOut is a natural feedback generator that produces controlled, musical feedback at any volume, with or without distortion. Seven harmonic types are selectable, with Onset controlling how quickly feedback arrives and Gain setting its intensity. Conversion is 24-bit, and true bypass keeps it out of the path when off.

Feedback is a volume phenomenon. It needs the speaker loud enough to drive the strings, which is why it belongs to loud stages and not to studios, headphones or in-ear rigs. The FreqOut generates the same effect electronically, so the sustain and bloom are available at any level.
The Type control selects which harmonic feeds back, from a natural low harmonic through higher overtones. Onset sets how long the note plays before the feedback arrives, which is what separates a note that blooms slowly at the end of a phrase from one that howls immediately. Gain sets how strongly it comes in, and a Dry switch decides whether the original note stays underneath.
The second use is the opposite of the first. At real gig volume, uncontrolled feedback picks whatever harmonic the room and the stage position hand it. Running the FreqOut lets a player focus the feedback onto a chosen harmonic regardless of where they stand, which turns an accident into a repeatable part.

How Does FreqOut Create Feedback Without Volume?
It generates the feedback harmonic electronically rather than relying on the speaker driving the strings. Because the effect does not depend on acoustic coupling between amp and guitar, it works at any output level, including into headphones or straight into an interface.

What Do Onset and Type Control?
Type selects which harmonic feeds back, from low natural harmonics up through higher overtones. Onset sets how long the note sounds before the feedback arrives, which is the difference between a slow bloom at the end of a held note and an immediate howl.

No. DigiTech lists the adapter as sold separately and specifies the PS0913DC-04, rated 9 V DC at 1.3 A. Typical draw is 235 mA.
