The Electro-Voice EKX-12 is a passive 12-inch two-way loudspeaker from EV's EKX series. It handles 1400 W peak through transducers designed and engineered by EV and reaches 131 dB peak SPL. Coverage holds a consistent 90° x 60° pattern across the listening area.
This is the box we recommend to working bands, mobile DJs, and mid-size rooms. It has the headroom for a full band in a 300-seat room without leaning on a subwoofer for vocals. The 12-inch format is the all-rounder: tight enough for vocals and acoustic acts, big enough for a band in a mid-size room. Passive cabinets keep long-term flexibility: amps can be upgraded or replaced independently, which is why installers and rental houses still spec them.
The SST waveguide design holds the pattern steady across the room instead of beaming highs down the center aisle. Construction is braced 15 mm wood with the EVCoat finish EV uses across its touring gear; it is built to be loaded, not babied. M10 rigging points, a pole cup, and metal handles cover tripod, pole-over-sub, and flown deployments.
