The Electro-Voice EKX-15 is a passive 15-inch two-way loudspeaker from EV's EKX series. It handles 1600 W peak through transducers designed and engineered by EV and reaches 132 dB peak SPL. Coverage holds a consistent 90° x 60° pattern across the listening area.
It earns its living with working bands, mobile DJs, and mid-size rooms. It has the headroom for a full band in a 300-seat room without leaning on a subwoofer for vocals. The 15-inch format favors fuller low-mids for full-band material and DJ sets in larger rooms. Passive cabinets keep long-term flexibility: amps can be upgraded or replaced independently, which is why installers and rental houses still spec them.
EV’s patented SST waveguide keeps the coverage pattern consistent, so the mix at the back corner tracks the mix at front of house. The cabinet is braced 15 mm plywood under EV’s EVCoat finish, which shrugs off load-in scrapes far better than painted MDF. Rigging is handled: threaded M10 points for eyebolts, aluminum pole mounts, and all-metal handles for daily transport.
