IK Multimedia ARC ON EAR is a portable headphone correction processor and headphone amplifier that applies measured correction to supported headphone models. It handles sample rates to 192 kHz, responds from 10 Hz to 80 kHz within 1 dB, delivers +19 dBu maximum output and reaches 116.9 dB dynamic range into a 300 Ohm load, running from an internal rechargeable battery for up to four hours or from USB.

Every headphone has a response curve, and mixing on one means learning to compensate for that curve by ear. ARC ON EAR removes the guesswork by applying a correction profile built for the specific headphone model you are using, so what you hear is closer to a reference response rather than to the manufacturer's voicing.
The output stage is designed with a high damping factor, which is why the dynamic range figures improve as impedance rises: 107.9 dB into 32 Ohms, 112.7 dB into 150 Ohms and 116.9 dB into 300 Ohms. It drives demanding studio headphones properly rather than just making them loud.
Two latency modes cover different work. Phase Align off runs at 1.35 ms, which is fine for tracking. Phase Align on adds around 21 ms depending on the headphone model and gives the more accurate correction for mixing. Inputs are analog on 3.5 mm and digital on USB-C, and the headphone output is a full size 6.3 mm jack.

How Does Headphone Correction Work?
IK measures a headphone model and builds a correction profile for it. ARC ON EAR loads that profile and applies it to everything passing through, so the deviations of that particular headphone are flattened out. It corrects the headphone, not the room, so it is the tool for working where monitors are not an option.

Yes. Feed it analog on the 3.5 mm input and it works standalone on battery power.
How long does the battery last?
Up to four hours of use from the internal rechargeable lithium battery. It also runs from USB power indefinitely.
