IK Multimedia iRig BlueBoard is a wireless Bluetooth MIDI floor controller for iPhone, iPad and Mac, using Bluetooth Low Energy for very low power consumption. Four backlit rubber pads are fully customizable through IK's dedicated iOS and Mac apps, and it runs on four AAA batteries in a body measuring 275 x 92 x 25 mm and weighing 250 g.
Wireless MIDI control on the floor, with nothing to trip over.
The cable is the weak point in any floor controller. iRig BlueBoard removes it. Bluetooth Low Energy carries MIDI to an iPhone, iPad or Mac with no cable across the stage and no adapter hanging off the device.
All four pads are assignable through IK's dedicated BlueBoard apps for iOS and Mac, so the same unit switches amp presets in AmpliTube, triggers loops, controls a DAW transport or drives any other MIDI destination. The assignment lives in the app rather than in a menu on the floor.
The pads are backlit rubber, which is a practical detail rather than a cosmetic one: they are identifiable on a dark stage and they take being stood on. Bluetooth Low Energy keeps the current draw low enough that four AAA cells last, and there is no power supply to find at a venue.
