Overview

IK Multimedia iRig Stream Mic USB is a USB condenser microphone with an integrated 2 in and 2 out audio interface, built around a single 0.55 in. gold-sputtered cardioid capsule responding from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with 115 dB maximum SPL and a switchable high-pass filter at 150 Hz. It connects over USB-C, adds a 1/8 in. headphone output and a 1/8 in. aux input, and weighs 435 g.

A desk microphone that is also the interface, with an aux input for whatever else is in the stream.

The aux input is what makes this different from a plain USB microphone. A 1/8 in. TRS input takes a phone, a media player or a second device, and it mixes with the microphone into the stream. That removes the need for a separate mixer in a simple streaming or podcast setup.

The capsule is a single 0.55 in. gold-sputtered cardioid electret responding from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with 115 dB of headroom. A high-pass filter at 150 Hz cuts desk rumble, air handling noise and footsteps, which are the three things most likely to sit under a spoken voice.

Conversion runs 16-bit at 44.1 and 48 kHz over a USB-C bus powered connection, and the headphone output delivers 7 mW per channel into 32 Ohms with 90 dB dynamic range for direct monitoring. The body measures 55 x 136 x 38 mm.

What Is the Aux Input For?

Bringing a second audio source into the stream or the recording without a mixer. A phone playing music, a laptop with a call on it, a media player, all of it mixes with the microphone through the 1/8 in. aux input.

Who Is iRig Stream Mic USB For?

Streamers, podcasters and remote workers who want one device on the desk rather than a microphone plus an interface plus a mixer. The cardioid pattern and the 150 Hz high-pass filter are aimed squarely at spoken word in an untreated room.

How Does It Compare to iRig Stream Mic Pro?

Stream Mic Pro has dual capsules with four selectable polar patterns, 24-bit conversion to 96 kHz and a selectable high-pass filter at 60, 100 or 200 Hz. Stream Mic USB has a single cardioid capsule, 16-bit conversion at 48 kHz and a fixed 150 Hz filter.

Connections

Host connection USB-C, bus powered
Headphone output 1/8 in. TRS, 7 mW per channel into 32 Ohms, 90 dB dynamic range
