Overview

IK Multimedia UNO Synth is an ultra-compact monophonic analog synthesizer built on two VCOs, a noise generator, a 2-pole resonant multimode filter, a VCA, two envelope generators and an LFO with seven shapes. It holds 100 presets, includes a 16-step sequencer and a 10-mode arpeggiator, and runs on four AA batteries or USB in a body measuring 25.6 x 15 x 5 cm and weighing 400 g.

A real analog voice that runs on batteries and fits in a backpack.

The signal path is genuinely analog. Two oscillators with continuously variable waveshapes cover triangle, sawtooth and pulse with variable width, feeding a 2-pole resonant multimode filter with cutoff, resonance, envelope amount and drive. Two envelopes handle filter and amplitude, with full ADSR available over MIDI, and the LFO offers sine, triangle, square, saw up, saw down, random and sample and hold.

The sequencer is what turns it from a sound source into an instrument. Sixteen steps with real-time and step recording, per-step parameter recording, selectable length from 1 to 16 steps and three directions. The arpeggiator adds ten modes over a four octave range with hold. Thirteen selectable scales, from chromatic through pentatonic, blues, Klezmer, Hungarian Gypsy and Japanese, keep the touch keyboard in key.

Onboard effects cover delay plus dive, scoop, vibrato, wah and tremolo. Connections are 3.5 mm audio in and out, MIDI in and out on 2.5 mm mini jack with the DIN adapters included, and micro USB. Note that USB power carries inherent ground noise, so a wall charger or batteries give a quieter result than a direct computer connection.

Is UNO Synth Actually Analog?

Yes. Two analog VCOs, an analog multimode filter and an analog VCA. The sequencer, presets and modulation routing are digital, which is normal for an instrument at this size, but the audio path itself is analog.

Who Is UNO Synth For?

Producers who want a genuine analog voice without a large purchase or a large desk, players adding a monosynth to a live rig, and anyone learning subtractive synthesis, since every stage of the signal path is exposed rather than hidden in menus.

What Comes in the Box?

The UNO Synth, a 60 cm micro USB to USB-A cable, two 2.5 mm TRS to MIDI DIN adapters and four AA alkaline batteries.

Why Does It Sound Noisier Over USB?

USB power carries ground noise. Connected directly to a computer you may hear more hum and interference than you would on batteries or from a USB wall charger. A USB isolator, or taking the output into a balanced input, resolves it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a genuine IK Multimedia product?

Yes. Victory is a veteran owned dealer in Miami and units ship new in original packaging with full manufacturer support.

Is this covered by warranty?

Yes. This unit carries the full IK Multimedia manufacturer warranty, registered to you as the original purchaser. Call 844-687-4208 with the current term for your region.

How many notes can it play at once?

One. It is a monophonic synthesizer. For paraphonic and multi-voice behavior, look at UNO Synth Pro X.

Does it have real keys?

It uses a touch sensitive keyboard rather than mechanical keys, which is how it stays this thin. Thirteen selectable scales help keep playing in key on a touch surface.

Can I edit it from a computer?

Yes. The UNO Synth Editor runs on Mac, Windows and iOS and requires firmware version 1.1.1 or later on the synth.
