IN-5 is a 3-way coaxial studio monitor with a 5 inch woofer and a coaxial midrange and tweeter sharing one acoustic centre. That coincident design is what gives the Independence series its stereo imaging, because the sound arrives from a single point rather than from drivers spread across a baffle.
One acoustic point source, which is why the image sits where it should.
In a conventional 2-way monitor the woofer and tweeter are separated vertically, so their outputs arrive at your ears at slightly different times depending on where your head is. That smears the image and makes the sweet spot small. A coaxial design puts the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the midrange, so there is one source.
Kali went further and made it a genuine 3-way. The woofer handles only low frequencies, the coaxial mid and tweeter handle everything above, and the crossover keeps the woofer in summation with the midrange. The result is precise imaging and off-axis response that stays consistent, which is why the IN series turns up in immersive and Atmos rooms where speakers get heard from odd angles.

What Does Coaxial Actually Change?
It puts the midrange and tweeter on the same acoustic centre so sound leaves from one point. That removes the phase and timing differences of a vertically separated design, which tightens the stereo image and widens the usable listening position.
Why Is a 3-Way Better Than a 2-Way Here?
Because the woofer stops working at a low crossover point and never has to reproduce midrange. That reduces distortion in the range where voices and instruments live, and it lets the coaxial mid and tweeter cover everything above from a single source.
Is the IN-5 Good for Dolby Atmos Rooms?
Yes, and that is a large part of why it exists. Immersive setups place speakers at angles where off-axis response matters, and the coaxial design keeps the response consistent off axis in a way a 2-way cannot.
