SM-8 is Kali's flagship studio monitor, a 300W 3-way active design with an 8 inch woofer, a 4 inch coaxial midrange and a 1 inch aluminium dome tweeter, reaching 37Hz to 30kHz at up to 119dB SPL. Onboard DSP gives 8 parametric EQs, delay and trim per speaker, addressed over Ethernet network control with Dante on RJ45.
The one they built when the brief was accuracy rather than value.
Kali built its name on value, and the SM-8 is what the same engineering produces when that constraint is removed. The coincident 3-way architecture places midrange and tweeter on one acoustic centre while the offset woofer stays in summation through the crossover, eliminating the off-axis lobing that is unavoidable in a 2-way.
The transducers were engineered specifically for the job. The woofer incorporates features that reduce magnetic flux modulation, which brings distortion down substantially. The midrange doubles as the tweeter's waveguide. The aluminium dome tweeter uses a geometry that suppresses high-Q ultrasonic resonances rather than leaving them to add harshness.
Onboard DSP handles room calibration per speaker, and control runs over Ethernet with Dante on RJ45. It mounts with Triad-Orbit hardware or any mount using a 4.25 by 2 inch hole pattern rated for 31 pounds.

What Size Is the SM-8 Woofer?
Eight inches. Some published descriptions, including material copied between the SM-5 and SM-8 pages, state five inches. That figure belongs to the SM-5. The SM-8 pairs an 8 inch woofer with a 4 inch midrange and a 1 inch tweeter.
Does the SM-8 Support Dante?
Yes. Network control runs over Ethernet on RJ45 with Dante, alongside AES/EBU digital input over BNC. That makes it straightforward to deploy in a networked facility.
What Does Coincident 3-Way Mean in Practice?
The midrange and tweeter share an acoustic centre so they behave as one source, and the woofer is positioned and crossed over so it never falls out of summation with the midrange. The off-axis lobing that is unavoidable in 2-way designs is effectively eliminated.
How Do I Mount It?
Using Triad-Orbit hardware or any mount with a 4.25 by 2 inch hole pattern rated to carry 31 pounds.
Why Kali Audio
Kali Audio was started in Burbank in 2018 by engineers out of the professional audio industry, and the whole company is built on one idea: measure everything, publish the measurements, and let the numbers do the arguing. Every product line is named after a California town. Lone Pine is the entry range, Independence is the 3-way coaxial line, Santa Monica is the flagship, and Watts is the subwoofer series. Kali became the reference for value in studio monitoring by beating far more expensive speakers on measured response rather than on marketing.
