Overview

WS-12 V2 is a 12 inch subwoofer built for studio and live use, the largest in Kali's Watts series. Where the dual 6 inch WS-6.2 is tuned for nearfield extension, the WS-12 has the output and extension for larger rooms, immersive systems and live reinforcement.

When the room got bigger than the nearfield system it started as.

A subwoofer sized for a desk setup runs out of headroom in a larger control room, and it is nowhere near enough for live work. The WS-12 exists for the point where the system outgrew the nearfield assumption.

Twelve inches of driver gives both deeper extension and the SPL to fill a room, which makes it the choice for immersive systems needing an LFE channel with real authority, for larger control rooms, and for live use where the same box has to work outside the studio.

WS-6.2 or WS-12, Which Do I Need?

The WS-6.2 uses dual 6 inch drivers for tight nearfield extension in a small room. The WS-12 has a single 12 inch driver with more output and deeper extension, for larger rooms, immersive LFE and live use.

Can It Be Used Live?

Yes, Kali positions it for both studio and live. That is unusual for a subwoofer at this position and is the reason to choose it over a studio-only design if the box has to leave the room.

Is One Subwoofer Enough?

For stereo work, usually. Immersive rooms and larger spaces often use two to even out the low-frequency response across the listening area.

Why Kali Audio

Kali Audio was started in Burbank in 2018 by engineers out of the professional audio industry, and the whole company is built on one idea: measure everything, publish the measurements, and let the numbers do the arguing. Every product line is named after a California town. Lone Pine is the entry range, Independence is the 3-way coaxial line, Santa Monica is the flagship, and Watts is the subwoofer series. Kali became the reference for value in studio monitoring by beating far more expensive speakers on measured response rather than on marketing.
