The Nord Drum 3P is a compact six pad electronic drum instrument with integrated multi pad, reverb and delay effects, a simplified sound selection mode and new sound banks for building custom kits quickly.
Six pads, an unusually deep synthesis engine, and 6 lbs total. This is percussion sound design you can put in a backpack.
The Drum 3P is not a practice pad with samples on it. It is a percussion synthesizer with an integrated pad surface, built on the sound design engine from the Nord Drum 2.
The new features are practical ones: reverb and delay are now onboard, sound selection has been simplified so you can audition and assign quickly, and new sound banks give you starting points for custom kits built on the fly.
It works as a standalone instrument, as an add on to an acoustic kit, or as a trigger source for a larger rig.
Because the sounds are synthesized rather than sampled, they respond continuously to how hard and where you strike, instead of switching between recorded velocity layers.

How Does It Differ From the Drum 2?
The Drum 2 was a module with no pads. The 3P adds the integrated multi pad surface, plus onboard reverb and delay, a simplified sound selection mode and new sound banks. The underlying synthesis approach carries over.
Can It Trigger From an Acoustic Kit?
The Drum 3P is designed as a self contained pad instrument. If you want to add it to an acoustic setup, the usual approach is to mount it beside the kit as an additional percussion surface rather than triggering it from drum heads.

Percussionists and producers who want sounds that do not exist in a sample library.

Nord instruments are designed and built by Clavia DMI in Stockholm, Sweden. The Drum line has a following among percussionists specifically because it synthesizes rather than samples, which gives you sounds that do not exist on any sample library.

Can I connect external triggers?
The 3P is designed around its own integrated pad surface. Check the current Nord specification for trigger input details on your unit before planning an external trigger setup.
Does it work as a MIDI controller?
Yes. The pads send MIDI, so the 3P can drive a drum module or software instrument alongside its internal engine.
Does it come with sticks or a stand?
