The Nord Electro 7 is a lightweight stage keyboard built around three independent sound sections, organ, piano and synth, with nine physical drawbars and a high resolution color display. It ships in three keybeds: 61 and 73 note semi weighted waterfall, and a 73 note HP model with a Kawai hammer action.
Three sound engines, nine real drawbars, and the Nord Organ 3 rotary speaker in a keyboard you can carry with one hand.
The Electro series has always been about getting a full set of classic keyboard sounds into the smallest, lightest box Nord can build. The Electro 7 keeps that brief and rebuilds the electronics around it.
The organ section is taken from the Nord Organ 3, including the new rotary speaker emulation with selectable microphone positions and slow, fast and stop control. The transistor organ models have been updated. Both the upper and lower manual get drawbar live mode and presets, driven by nine physical drawbars with LED indicators.
The piano section adds dynamic compression and unison. The synth section is new for the Electro line and covers sample playback, analog and FM synthesis, with mono and legato modes, glide and unison. Each section has its own effects, and the compressor can be set per section or globally.

What Sound Sections Does the Electro 7 Have?
Three, and they run independently rather than as a single layered patch.
- Organ: B3 tone wheel plus updated transistor organ models and pipe, with the Nord Organ 3 rotary speaker
- Piano: acoustic grands, electric pianos, clavinet and harpsichord, with dynamic compression and unison
- Synth: sample playback, analog and FM synthesis, mono and legato modes, glide, unison and synth vibrato
Which Keybed Should You Choose?
It depends on what you play most.
The 61 note waterfall is the organ purist choice. Flat fronted keys, fastest to carry, and the drawbars are right where your left hand expects them. The 73 note waterfall gives you the same action with more range plus a pitch stick and modulation wheel. The HP model swaps in a 73 note Kawai hammer action keybed, which is what you want if the piano section is doing most of the work in your set.
How Does the Effects Section Work?
Each section gets its own effects rather than sharing one chain. The updated effect section includes rate and amount control, a ring modulator and vibe. The amp section adds a new Suitcase model and a new Brit amp. Reverb is global with an optional send per layer, and the compressor can be assigned per section or across the whole instrument.

Why Nord
Nord instruments are designed and built by Clavia DMI in Stockholm, Sweden. The red chassis has been a fixture on touring stages for thirty years for a simple reason: the sound libraries are excellent, the panel gives you one control per function, and the instruments survive being loaded in and out several nights a week.
