The Roundback, Elite Style
The body is a super shallow Lyrachord bowl, Ovation's one-piece molded composite shell. No seams to work loose, no back to crack in a dry winter, and a parabolic curve that reflects string energy forward instead of trapping it in corners. Up top, the soundholes move off-center into a cluster framed by hardwood epaulettes, leaving more unbroken soundboard where the strings drive it hardest. It is the design that made an Ovation identifiable at a hundred meters. The soundboard is a solid spruce top, carried on scalloped, quartersawn X-bracing that lets the top move freely while the braces hold their shape for decades.
Sound and Electronics
The shallow bowl trades a little unplugged boom for stage comfort and feedback resistance, a trade the third set of the night always vindicates. Playability
Scale length 642 mm, nut width 42,8 mm. The bowl's curved back settles against your body without a dreadnought's sharp edge, and the neck carries Ovation's fast, low-effort feel.
