Overview

Emperor Coated is a two-ply 7-mil coated drumhead giving warm, open tone with more durability and projection than a single-ply head. The double ply produces a soft feel and a subtle attack that suits both studio and live work, and it survives hard playing where a single ply would not.

Two plies, so it takes the beating and stays warm doing it.

Why Choose Emperor Over Ambassador?

Emperor is two plies of 7-mil film against Ambassador's single 10-mil ply. That makes it warmer, more controlled and considerably more durable, with less ring. Hard hitters and drummers who want a focused tom sound choose Emperor.

Does the Extra Ply Make It Sound Dead?

No. Emperor Coated is described as warm and open rather than damped. The second ply reduces overtones and shortens sustain slightly, but the drum still breathes. For a genuinely controlled sound, Pinstripe or Powerstroke go further.

What Size Do I Need?

Measure the drum shell diameter. Rack toms are typically 10, 12 and 13 inches, floor toms 14 and 16, and snare drums 14.

Why Remo

Remo has made drumheads in the United States since 1957, when Remo Belli replaced calfskin with Mylar and ended the problem that had defined drumming until then: a head that changed pitch with the weather. Every major head design since has come out of that company, and the Ambassador remains the most widely used drumhead in the world. Remo also builds world percussion, marching heads and the Acousticon shells used across its drum circle range.
