Why Key-Tuned Instead of Rope-Tuned?
A rope-tuned djembe requires skill and time to pull up, and it moves with humidity. A key-tuned drum tunes in minutes with a standard drum key and holds its tuning, which is why this design dominates facilitated drum circles and education.
What Is a Skyndeep Head?
Remo's synthetic head printed with a natural skin appearance. It gives the tonal response of a hide head without the weather sensitivity, and it does not need to be warmed before playing.
What Is the Drum Made Of?
An Acousticon shell, Remo's seamless recycled wood fibre material. It is lighter than a carved wood djembe, it will not crack, and it is unaffected by humidity.
Why Remo
Remo has made drumheads in the United States since 1957, when Remo Belli replaced calfskin with Mylar and ended the problem that had defined drumming until then: a head that changed pitch with the weather. Every major head design since has come out of that company, and the Ambassador remains the most widely used drumhead in the world. Remo also builds world percussion, marching heads and the Acousticon shells used across its drum circle range.
