Powerstroke 3 Clear Bass with Impact Patch is a clear bass drumhead with an inlay dampening ring and a 2-1/2 inch impact patch bonded where the beater strikes. The patch takes the wear that would otherwise pit and eventually punch through the film.
The beater will win eventually. The patch decides how long that takes.

What Is an Impact Patch For?
A bass drum beater hits the same spot thousands of times a night. Without reinforcement the film pits and eventually splits at that point. The 2-1/2 inch patch takes that wear and extends head life substantially.
Do I Still Need a Separate Falam or Patch?
No. The patch is bonded to the head at the factory, correctly positioned and permanently attached, so there is no stick-on pad to replace or reposition.
Clear or Coated for a Bass Batter?
Clear gives more attack and a brighter click, which suits close-miked rock and metal. Coated is warmer with a softer attack. Both use the same Powerstroke inlay ring.
Why Remo
Remo has made drumheads in the United States since 1957, when Remo Belli replaced calfskin with Mylar and ended the problem that had defined drumming until then: a head that changed pitch with the weather.
