Powerstroke 3 Coated is a single ply 10-mil coated head with an inlay dampening ring around the outer edge, giving focused mid and low tones with a subtle attack. The ring controls the outer overtones while the centre of the head stays open, which is the balance the Powerstroke design exists to deliver.

What Is the Inlay Ring?
A strip of film bonded around the outer edge of the head, 3-mil on tom and snare heads and 10-mil on bass drumheads. It damps the outer overtones where most of the unwanted ring comes from, leaving the centre free to respond.
Powerstroke 3 or Pinstripe?
Pinstripe damps across the whole head with an agent between two plies, giving a thicker, more controlled sound. Powerstroke 3 damps only at the edge on a single ply, so the head keeps more sensitivity and a more natural attack.
Is Powerstroke 3 Mainly a Bass Drum Head?
It is best known on bass drums, where the ring tames the boom without needing internal muffling. The tom and snare versions apply the same idea at a lighter weight.
Why Remo
Remo has made drumheads in the United States since 1957, when Remo Belli replaced calfskin with Mylar and ended the problem that had defined drumming until then: a head that changed pitch with the weather. Every major head design since has come out of that company, and the Ambassador remains the most widely used drumhead in the world.
