Overview
Tube and large-diaphragm condenser microphones are extremely sensitive to mechanical vibration. Any stand-borne rumble — footsteps, traffic outside, even subwoofers in the same room — couples directly through the mic mount and ends up in your recording. A proper shockmount uses elastic suspension to isolate the microphone from those vibrations.
