BeatBuddy 2 is a drum machine in a guitar pedal that you control live with your foot while both hands stay on your instrument. Tap for a fill, hold for a transition, tap twice to end the song. It plays award-winning built-in beats or your own, and it responds in real time rather than looping a fixed pattern.

Playing to a backing track means locking yourself to somebody else's timing for the length of the song. Every rubato phrase, every held chord, every moment where the room wants you to stretch has to be abandoned. That is the reason so many solo and duo players give up on drums entirely and just play dry.
The BeatBuddy inverts it. The pedal waits for you. A tap drops in a fill where you decide the fill belongs, a hold moves the arrangement from verse to chorus when you are ready to move it, and a double tap ends the song on your cue. The timing decisions stay with the player.
Version two builds on ten years of the original. Solo acoustic acts, worship musicians covering for an absent drummer, and songwriters working out arrangements at home all use it for the same reason: it gives you drums without giving up control of the performance.

How Is a BeatBuddy Different From a Backing Track?
A backing track is fixed, so the player has to follow it exactly. The BeatBuddy waits for foot cues, so fills, transitions and endings happen when you decide rather than at a predetermined bar. The arrangement follows the performance instead of the other way around.
Do I Need Both Hands Free to Use It?
No, that is the point. Everything is operated by foot. Tap for a fill, hold for a transition, tap twice to end. Your hands never leave the instrument.
Can I Add My Own Beats?
Yes. The built-in library covers a wide range of styles, and you can load your own content as well, so an arrangement that needs a specific groove is not limited to what shipped on the pedal.

Why Singular Sound
Singular Sound started with a single idea: put a real drummer's timing and phrasing into a stompbox a solo player can operate with one foot. The original BeatBuddy was funded on Kickstarter in 2014 and the company has stayed narrow since, building the BeatBuddy line, the Aeros looper, the MIDI Maestro and the SuperSwitch as one connected system rather than a scattered catalogue. The products sync to each other over MIDI and share a content library, which is why solo performers and worship musicians tend to end up with more than one of them.
