The Numa Compact line answers a question a lot of players have: how do you get a full 88 note keyboard with speakers into a car without a second person helping?
Studiologic's answer is a semi weighted action in a light cabinet with the amplification built in, so the instrument is self contained for practice, teaching and small rooms and still goes into a PA when you need it.
String resonance and stereo reverb are handled onboard, so the sound through the internal speakers is already finished rather than dry.

Why the SE Over the Numa Compact 2?
The SE adds aftertouch, the new sound engine with 1GB of sounds and 200 note polyphony in the same lightweight cabinet. The Numa Compact 2 remains a strong instrument but the SE is the current engine.
Are the Built In Speakers Enough?
For practice, teaching, a small room or a rehearsal, yes. For a gig with a drummer, run the line outputs into a PA or a keyboard amp. The internal speakers are a convenience feature, not a stage solution.

It also works as a second keyboard on a stand, where the built in speakers become a personal monitor and save a channel at front of house.

A Studiologic VFP-1 matched to the correct polarity. The AMS-VFP-1-25 has a polarity switch if you want to remove the question entirely.
Does it run on batteries?
Check the current Studiologic specification for your unit. The Numa Compact cabinet is designed for portability but power options vary across the range.
Can I use it as a MIDI controller?
Yes. The Numa Compact instruments send MIDI and can drive software instruments alongside their internal sounds.
