The Studiologic SL Studio is a lightweight hammer action MIDI controller with three contacts per key, available in 88 and 73 note versions. The SL73 Studio adds aftertouch.

The Studio models strip the SL controller down to the essentials: the keybed, the contacts and the MIDI. No screen full of controls you will never assign.
Three contacts per key is the specification that matters. It is what gives accurate repeated note handling and consistent velocity response across the keybed.
The SL73 Studio is a triple sensor action with aftertouch. Both are designed for a studio desk or a compact stage rig.

Studio or MK2?
The MK2 line is the current generation and adds the UX Logic interface, high definition MIDI 2.0 and Numa Player integration.
The Studio models are the simpler proposition: the same Fatar hammer action heritage with three contacts per key, in a lighter package aimed at studio use. If you want the newest control surface and MIDI 2.0, go to the MK2.
Why Do Three Contacts Matter on a Controller?
Because the controller is the only thing measuring your playing. If the action only reads the key twice, fast repeated notes get dropped or come out at the wrong velocity, and no amount of quality in the software instrument downstream will fix it.

Which plates fit the Studio models?
The SL Original Series plates, AMS-SL-COMPUTER-PLATE and AMS-SL-MUSIC-STAND. The MK2 plates use a different mounting arrangement.
Is it heavy enough to stay put?
These are weighted hammer actions, so the instruments have real mass. On a desk they stay where you put them.
Do the Studio models have internal sounds?
No. They are controllers and need a software instrument or external module.
Which magnetic plates fit?
The SL Original Series plates, AMS-SL-COMPUTER-PLATE and AMS-SL-MUSIC-STAND. The MK2 plates are a different fitment.
