Grenadilla is the traditional oboe wood. It is dense and stable, and it gives the Crown Series its focus and its ability to speak cleanly at low dynamics, which is where an oboe usually has to live. The full ring system D key and articulated C# keep the fingering conventional, so a player coming off a school horn is not relearning the instrument.
