Pedal76 is an all-analog transformer-balanced FET compressor in pedal format, taking the 1176 circuit that lives in studio racks and putting it on the floor. The 1176 attack is faster than almost anything else, which is what makes it sound aggressive rather than smooth.

What Is a FET Compressor?
A compressor using a field-effect transistor as the gain reduction element. It is much faster than optical or tube designs, which is why the 1176 sounds aggressive and grabby rather than gentle. That speed is the whole appeal.
Is This a Real Analog Circuit?
Yes, all analog and transformer balanced. It is not a digital emulation in a pedal enclosure, which is what most floor compressors at this size are.
Why Put a Studio Compressor on the Floor?
So bass and guitar players get the studio compression sound live, and so it can be reached with a foot mid-set. It also works perfectly well on a desk as a studio compressor with a pedal footprint.
