Yamaha DM5 is a dual-bay digital mixing console with built-in Dante. It mixes 60 mono input channels into 24 mix buses and 12 matrices, with 32 analog inputs, 16 analog outputs, 64x64 Dante on primary and secondary ports, 26 faders, two 13.3 inch multi-touch screens and an 18x18 USB audio interface, all running at 96 kHz.
Large-format Yamaha workflow in a console about as deep as a laptop.
The DM5 is the full-size model in Yamaha's DM5 series, next to the single-bay DM5 Compact. It shares its show files and DM Editor software with the DM7 series, so engineers who already know the DM7 are at home immediately. Every input has a high-pass filter, a 4-band parametric EQ with four algorithms and RTA overlay, two dynamics stages and up to 1,000 ms of delay. Every output has an 8-band parametric EQ and its own dynamics.
The dynamics menu covers Legacy Comp, Comp260, Gate, De-Esser, Expander, Ducking, FET Limiter and Diode Bridge Comp. A 16-slot effect rack offers 43 effect types, and a 24-slot EQ rack provides 31-band and Flex15 graphic EQs. A Dugan automixer is built in for 12 channels, expandable to 64 with a license. Assist functions suggest head amp gain, channel names, compressor settings and fader balance to speed up setup.
The surface uses glass keys with dynamic labels, four user-defined knobs next to the screens, two 4.3 inch touch screens for user-defined keys and fader banks, and a display that tilts to four angles to cut glare. A PY expansion slot adds up to 64 more channels of I/O through Dante, MADI, AES/EBU, Waves SoundGrid or the PY-DSP card for Premium Rack plug-ins, including the Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5033 and 5043.

Why Yamaha?
Yamaha cites more than three decades of experience building digital mixing consoles, a line that includes the RIVAGE PM, CL, QL, TF, DM3 and DM7 series. The DM5 runs the same control software family, so show files move between DM5 and DM7 consoles and the DM Editor, DM StageMix and MonitorMix apps work across both.
