The Uprise Series is a Gen 2 platform built on a Mark VI body style with a brass neck, rolled tone holes and double braces. Rolled tone holes give a wider, smoother seat for the pad, which is the traditional approach and the reason a lot of players prefer this platform.

Every Uprise horn carries full body and bell engraving, Pisoni WS105 pads on convex nickel plated resonators, blue steel springs, high grade pearls, a custom support ring, a rod support bullet, a low C sharp keyguard, a G sharp and low C sharp non-stick mechanism, and adjustable left and right hand keys with a palm key rising mechanism on D, E flat, E and F.

What Do Rolled Tone Holes Do?

The rim of each tone hole is rolled outward into a smooth, wider seat. That gives the pad more surface to seal against and is gentler on the leather, so pads last longer and seal more consistently. It is the traditional approach and a large part of why the Uprise platform reads broader and warmer than the Origin.

Why Is the Alto Bell Enlarged?

An enlarged bell moves more air at the bottom of the horn, which fills out low B flat, B and C and stops them thinning out at low dynamics. The alto is the size where that change is most audible, which is why it is applied there and not across the whole range.

What Is the Difference Between the Origin and Uprise Series?

They are different platforms, not different tiers. The Origin Series is Gen 3 on a Super 80 S2 body with a copper nickel neck and vertically extruded tone holes. The Uprise Series is Gen 2 on a Mark VI body style with a brass neck, rolled tone holes, double braces and a low C sharp keyguard.

Vertically extruded tone holes and a copper nickel neck give the Origin a more focused, quicker response. Rolled tone holes and a brass neck give the Uprise a broader, more traditional voice. Neither is the better horn. They are answers to different questions.
