Rosewood is a little less dense than Grenadilla and reads as warmer and more open at the top of the staff. Players who find a Grenadilla horn too bright in a small room, or who want a distinct color in a section that is already all Grenadilla, tend to gravitate here. The keywork, pads and barrel set are the same as the Grenadilla model.

How Does Rosewood Compare to Grenadilla?

Rosewood reads warmer and slightly more open, Grenadilla reads more focused and projects harder. Neither is better. In a live room or a small chamber setting rosewood often sits more comfortably. Under a wind ensemble at full volume, Grenadilla cuts further.
